Nebraska Math Scholars Program

Nebraska Math Scholars Program

The Nebraska Math Scholars Program, implemented by the Department of Mathematics at UNL through the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Computer Education (CSMCE), provides scholarships to financially disadvantaged students who are majoring in Mathematics at UNL. This scholarship aims to financially assist these students so that they may attend college and focus their efforts on academia. The program also aims to increase the number of underrepresented students in the Mathematics major, provide a supportive environment to scholars in the program, and provide additional educational opportunities.

The SBSRC provides evaluation support for this program in conjunction with the Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR).  The evaluation includes interviews with participants over time to learn about their impressions and experiences with the scholarship program, the mentoring they received through the program, their attendance and the helpfulness of various program components.
