GeoPaths is an NSF funded project to increase interest in geoscience learning. It addresses this by working with teachers before they enter the classroom, and as part of continuing education for more experienced teachers, high school students, and current and past geology majors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). This holistic program is designed to provide more exposure to geology at younger ages, and provide greater support for college students pursuing geology careers. This involves field courses for teachers and high school students across Nebraska and Wyoming, the development of geoscience learning communities at UNL, and increased mentoring and research support for undergraduate geology majors. The SBSRC evaluation team supports these efforts by assessing the needs of existing students and the progress through the field and learning experiences.
