Dan Hoyt Director, Social Behavioral Science Research Consortium & Graduate Chair, Professor of Sociology
As the Director of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Research Consortium (SBSRC) I have the opportunity to work with the outstanding foundation of social and behavioral science researchers at UNL and our NU affiliated campuses. In the initial phases of the development of SBSRC, we are designing and implementing plans to enhance social and behavioral research through networks of referral and collaboration. Our foundational work is being guided by the recommendations from the Social and Behavioral Sciences Research Initiative Task Force Report.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1980 and I was a faculty member at Iowa State University for the next 21 years. I had the good fortune to be recruited back to UNL in 2001. My research has focused upon adolescent substance use and abuse, homeless and runaway youth, victimization, and mental health. I also have a long-term interest in quantitative and survey research methods, research ethics, and community-based participatory research.
